Action Report:

Special Called Meeting - June 17, 2003

CALL TO ORDER - President Washington called the meeting to order at 6 PM.

Board President requested that all persons who desired to speak on the proposed budget and proposed tax rate give their names to the secretary. No one desired to speak.

Superintendent Hopkins informed the Board that the budget is balanced. She briefed the Board on the following: 1) Clarification of fiscal responsibilities for alternative programs (The Challenge Academy, The Learning Center and AEP); 2) Reduction of teaching positions due to enrollment drops; 3) Update salary information. Most positions are filled, so actual salaries are used and not a maximum salary; 4) Reduction of support staff due to enrollment drops; 5) Remove Sodexho; 6) Dropped day care due to loss of funding; 7) Increase in projected revenue following the legislative session; 8) Includes $.05 tax rate increase; 9) Remove new bus; 10) Remove staff raises. If we receive WADA funds for 2003-04, number 9 and 10 will be the first to be reinstated.

Pubic Comments - None
