MINUTES

BOARD WORKSHOP/SESSION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building - 6:30 P.M.

July 29, 2003

President Washington called the Board workshop/session to order at 6:34 P.M.

President Washington then turned the workshop over to Mrs. Michelle Wellhelm, Intervention Specialist. She briefed the Board on: Legislature update; reconstituting a school; commended the district on salary increases; curriculum development; the tutoring programs; staffing guideline; student time and instruction; Elementary Campus Improvement Plan is on target; in the future the district having a parent university. She also stated to the Board that their role in this is to be very disciplined and supportive. Questions were asked by the Board members. Mrs. Wellhelm commended the Board that they are committed to the students. Board member Danny Vickers asked if it could be possible that at every regular meeting a progressive cumulative report of the elementary school be made available to each Board member. Superintendent Hopkins said that a cumulative report file will be given to each Board member each month.

President Washington adjourned the workshop at 7:59 P.M.

President Washington informed the Board that since there was not a full Board in attendance, the discussion of incentives will be tabled to another time and date.
