SPECIAL CALLED MEETING AND BUDGET WORKSHOP
OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building – 5:30 P.M.

May 31, 2005

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting/workshop was called to order by President, Lowanda Washington, at 5:30 p.m.
Invocation was given by Roger Nutt.
Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and Texas Flag was led by Roger Nutt.
Roll call: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mr. Roger Nutt, Mr. Terry Douglas, Mr. David Lawson, Mr. Danny Vickers and Ms. Sonja Washington.
Mr. Gary Gray arrived 5:35 p.m.

Date for Public Meeting-Discuss Budget & Proposed Tax Rate - Motion by Mr. David Lawson, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, that a public meeting be held on June 28, 2005 at 5:30 p.m. in the Marlin Middle School Cafeteria to discuss budget and proposed tax rate. The motion carried unanimously.

Approve Proposed Tax Rate to Publish in Paper - Motion by Mr. Roger Nutt, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, to approve proposed tax rate of M & O $1.50; I & S $.075- Total tax rate $1.575 to be published in the notice for the public meeting. The motion carried unanimously.


Budget Workshop - Superintendent Hopkins reviewed with the Board on 1)legislature; 2)WADA sale;
3)making adjustments in personnel. Handouts regarding the 2005-06 budget were presented to each board member and contents were reviewed. Questions were asked by board members. It was agreed no more workshops were needed.

Adjourned - President Washington adjourned the meeting/workshop at 6:15 p.m.
