SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building - 5:45 P.M.
March 29, 2005

CALL TO ORDER
1. The meeting was called to order by President, Lowanda Washington, at 5:45 p.m.
2. Roll call: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mr. Roger Nutt, Mrs. Byrleen Terry, Mr. Terry Douglas, Mr. Danny Vickers and Ms. Sonja Washington.

Adopt Order of Cancellation of Trustee Election & Unopposed Candidates Elected - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Mr. Roger Nutt, that Marlin ISD adopts the Order of Cancellation and hereby cancels the election in Single Member District A and C and the two At-Large positions. The Board hereby elects unopposed candidate Sonja Washington for District A; unopposed candidate Gary Gray for District C; unopposed candidates David Lawson and Danny Vickers for the two At-Large positions. The motion carried unanimously.

Adjourned President Washington adjourned the meeting at 5:46 p.m.

BOARD WORKSHOP OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building - 6:00 P.M.

March 29, 2005

The workshop on School Finance was called to order by President, Lowanda Washington, at 6:00 P.M. The workshop was then turned over to Gary Barker, Field Service Agent on School Finance with Education Service Center, Region 12. Board members were given handouts and a power point presentation was presented on the contents. Questions were asked by board members throughout the workshop. Topics that were reviewed are as follows: 1) Current State Funding System; 2) Current Funding System Specific to Marlin; 3) Ruling of Judge Dietz in Regard to West Orange Cove Consolidated Case; 4) Selected Testimony during the Joint Select Committee on School Finance; 5) Proposed House Bill 2 School Finance Plan; 6) Other Concerns.

The workshop adjourned at 8:45 p.m.

Board members present: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mr. Roger Nutt, Mr. Terry Douglas, Mr. Danny Vickers and Ms. Sonja Washington. Elected Board members Mr. David Lawson and Mr. Gary Gray were also present and Superintendent Hopkins.
