SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building - 5:30 p.m.

August 2, 2005

CALL TO ORDER
1. The meeting was called to order by President, Lowanda Washington, at 5:30 p.m.
2. Invocation was given by Roger Nutt.
3. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and Texas Flag was led by Roger Nutt.
4. Roll call: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mr. Roger Nutt, Mr. Terry Douglas, Mr. David Lawson and Mr. Danny Vickers.
Ms. Sonja Washington arrived at 5:33 p.m. and Mr. Gary Gray arrived at 5:35 p.m.

Closed Session - At 5:33 p.m. President Washington announced the Board will go into Closed Session
Session under Section 551.074.

The Board came out of Closed Session and reconvened to Open Session at 6:01 p.m.

Personnel Employment - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, to employ the following for the 2005-06 school year: Denise Graves-second grade teacher; Kennith Lacy-PE/coach middle school; Rodney Gromatzky-AEP teacher. The motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Resignations - No resignations, therefore no action was taken on this agenda item.

Discussion Item- Options to fill Supt.Vacancy - Roger Nutt, Chairman of the committee to find a search firm, informed the board that three proposals have been received. Copies of the proposals will be given to each board
member and placed on the August 16 agenda to be discussed.

At this time President Washington congratulated Ms. Barbara Stewart on her accomplishment of successfully completing the requirements to earn the designation of
Certified Texas School Business Official (CTSBO).

Adjourned - President Washington adjourned the meeting at 6:05 p.m.
