SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Administration Building - 6:00 P.M.

MINUTES

July 12, 2005

CALL TO ORDER
1. The meeting was called to order by President, Lowanda Washington, at 6:00 p.m.
2. Invocation was given by David Lawson.
3. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and Texas Flag was led by David Lawson.
4. Roll call: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mr. Terry Douglas, Mr. Gary Gray, Mr. David Lawson, Mr. Danny Vickers and Ms. Sonja Washington.
Absent: Mr. Roger Nutt

Closed Session - At 6:03 p.m. President Washington announced the Board will go into Closed Session under Section 551.074.

The Board came out of Closed Session and reconvened to Open Session at 7:20 p.m.

Personnel Employment - Motion by Mr. Terry Douglas, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, to employ the
following for the 2005-06 school year: Gregory Bailey-history/coach high school; Marilyn Bailey Spanish/English/French; Thomas Doyle Christian-math high school. The motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Resignations - Motion by Mr. David Lawson, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, to accept
resignations from: Jeanette Busby, Debbie Suttle, Tracy McGuire and Carol Kerr. The motion carried unanimously.

Resignation of Superintendent - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Ms. Sonja Washington, to accept with
regrets the resignation and terms listed in the resignation of Superintendent Letha Hopkins. The motion carried unanimously.

Appointment of Interim Superintendent - No action was taken on this agenda item.

President Washington announced a committee is set to contact and set up interviews with individuals whose name appears on a list as possible interim superintendents. This committee is made up of Lowanda Washington, Danny Vickers and David Lawson. Ms. Washington will chair this committee.

President Washington then announced another committee is set up to find a search firm to fill the superintendent vacancy. This committee is made up of Roger Nutt and Sonja Washington. Mr. Nutt will chair this committee.

Adjourned - President Washington adjourned the meeting at 7:23 p.m.
