MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Marlin Middle School Cafeteria 6:00 p.m.
December 19, 2006
Call to Order
1. Vice-President, Roger Nutt called the meeting to order
at 6:00 p.m.
2. Roger Nutt gave the invocation.
3. Marlin Elementary School UIL participants led the Board in the pledge to
the American Flag and the Texas Flag.
4. Roll Call: Mr. Roger Nutt, Mr. Danny Vickers, Ms. Sonja Washington, Mr. David
Lawson and Mr. Steve Johnson werepresent. Ms. Lowanda Washington and Mr. Terry
Douglas were absent.
Public Comments/Audience Participation - None
Consent Agenda - Motion made by Danny Vickers,
seconded by David Lawson to approve Consent Agenda as presented. Consent Agenda
items:
Minutes of Regular Board Meeting November 14, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. and monthly
financial report. The motion carried unanimously.
Consolidate Polling Locations - Motion made by
David Lawson, seconded by Sonja Washington to consolidate polling locations
for the May 12, 2007 School Board Trustee Election. Consolidating the locations
would allow the district to comply with House Bill 1 requiring districts to
conduct
their elections jointly with a municipality or with a county in which it shares
common territory. Marlin ISD will consolidate with the City of Marlin for the
joint election. The motion carried unanimously.
Approve District Goals for 2007- 2008 - Motion made by Sonja Washington, seconded by Steve Johnson to approve the district goals for the 2007-08 school year. The motion carried unanimously.
Policy Update 79 - Motion made by Danny Vickers,
" I move that the Board add, revise or delete (LOCAL) policies as recommended
by TASB
Policy Service and according to the Instruction Sheet for TASB Localized Policy
Manual Update 79." Motion was seconded by Steve Johnson. The motion carried
unanimously.
Lease former Music/Band Hall - Motion made by Steve
Johnson, to lease the former Music/ Band Hall to the Boys and Girls Club of
Falls County subject to the Lease Contract revision of Article 6 Landlord Services,
Section C to read, "Electric Services/Hook-Up for light and
all normal office equipment." The motion also requested that Mr. Matthews
contact Attorney, Steve Burton for clarification of Article 8 Insurance, Section
8.3 Waiver of Claims. The motion was seconded by David Lawson. Motion carried
unanimously.
Sale of Falls Ed. Co-Op Bldg. on Green & Monroe St. - Motion made by Danny Vickers, seconded by Steve Johnson to accept the bid of $45,500.00 from Lisa Lankford for the sale of the Falls Education Co-Op building and property located on Green and Monroe St. The motion carried unanimously.
Closed Session - At 6:22 p.m. Vice-President, Roger Nutt announced the Board would go into closed session under Texas Gov't. Code 551.146.
Reconvene - The Board reconvened at 6:47 p.m. into open session to consider action resulting from the closed session discussion.
Superintendent's Appraisal, Goals, Directives,
contract, Compensation, etc. - No action taken at this time.
RecommendationFor Employment - Motion
made by Danny Vickers, seconded by Steve Johnson to employ Sandi Stump, Jessica
Edwards, and Laura Anne Madl for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Motion
carried unanimously.
Resignations - The Board recognized the resignation
of Linda Allison, Elementary Music Teacher as approved by Ray Matthews,
Superintendent.
