Proposed 2007-08 Budget and Proposed Tax Rate

June 26, 2007

Call to Order - President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, and David Lawson.  Danny Vickers arrived at 6:03 p.m.

Trustee, Steve Johnson was absent. 

Board President Lowanda Sias requested that all persons who desired to speak on the 2007-08 Budget and Proposed Tax Rate give their names to the secretary.  Due to the absence of public attendance at this meeting, no one spoke on the Budget and Proposed Tax rate.

Public Comments - Due to the absence of public attendance at this meeting no comments were made.  The Board directed questions and comments to Kim Margoitta, Business Manager regarding the 2007-08 Budget Worksheet.

Adjournment - President, Lowanda Sia adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.

Special Called Meeting　

June 26, 2007 Marlin Middle School Cafeteria

Call To Order - President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:16 p.m.  Moment of Silence was observed.

Board Trustees and audience members pledged their Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Danny Vickers, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, and David Lawson.  Trustee, Steve Johnson arrived at 6:29 p.m.

Budget Amendment (s) - Motion made by Roger Nutt, seconded by David Lawson to approve Budget Amendments as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Adopt 2007-08 Budget -  Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Tania Baker to adopt the 2007-08 Budget as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - President, Lowanda Sias announced the Board would go into closed session at 6:28 p.m. to discuss personnel matters under Texas Government Code 551.146. The Board reconvened into open session at 6:47 p.m.

Employment of Personnel for 2007-08 School Year - Motion made by Roger Nutt, seconded by Sonja Washington to approve the employment of personnel for the 2007-08 school year.  Teachers approved for employment include:

Christi Yezak - Marlin Elementary School

Willie Thomas - Marlin Elementary School

Betsy Gilliam - Marlin Elementary

Motion carried unanimously.

Resignation (s) - The Board recognized the following resignations as received and accepted by Ray Matthews, Superintendent.

Roy Webb - Marlin Middle School

Sandi Stump - Marlin Middle School

Adjournment - President, Lowanda Sias adjourned the meeting at 6:50 p.m.
