MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Marlin Middle School Cafeteria 6:00 p.m.

November 18, 2008

Call to Order - Board Vice-President, Roger Nutt called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Moment of silence was observed. Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag was led by David Dorsey representing the Marlin High School National Honor Society.

Roll Call - Steve Johnson, David Lawson, Sonja Washington, Tania Baker, Danny Vickers, and Roger Nutt. Lowanda Sias was absent. A quorum was established for the meeting.

Public Comments/ Audience Participation - None

Consent Agenda - Motion made by Steve Johnson to approve the minutes of the Public Hearing on School FIRST, Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas, held October 21, 2008 at 5:45 p.m. Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting held October 21, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. and the monthly financial report as presented. The motion was seconded by David Lawson. Motion carried unanimously.

2007-2008 Revised Audit - Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Tania Baker to approve the Revised 2007-2008 Audit. Motion carried unanimously.

Update 84 - Motion made by Sonja Washington, I move that the Board add, revise, or delete (LOCAL) policies as recommended by TASB Policy Service and according to the Instruction Sheet for TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 84. Motion seconded by David Lawson. Motion carried unanimously.

Publish for 2008-2009 Fiscal Year Audit Engagement - Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Steve Johnson for approval to publish bids for 2008-2009 fiscal year audit engagement. Motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - Board Vice-President, Roger Nutt announced at 6:16 p.m. that the Board would go into closed session to discuss personnel matters under Texas Govt Code 551.146. The board reconvened into open session at 7:45 p.m.

Superintendents Appraisal, Goals, Directives, Compensations, etc. - No action taken

Recommendation For Employment - Motion made by Danny Vickers, seconded by Tania Baker to employ the following for the remainder of the 2008-2009 school year:

Marilee Martinez Elementary School

Motion carried unanimously.

Resignations - No action taken

Adjournment - Board Vice-President, Roger Nutt adjourned the meeting at 7:46 p.m.
