BUDGET WORKSHOP OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Marlin Middle School Cafeteria  5:30 p.m.

June 16, 2009

Call to Order - Board President, Lowanda Sias called the workshop to order at 5:31 p.m.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Danny Vickers, Tania Baker, Lowanda Sias, David Lawson and Steve Johnson. Sonja Washington arrived at 5:34 p.m. A quorum was established for the meeting.

Budget Workshop- Kim Margoitta, Business Manager opened the meeting by presenting the Board a handout of the Marlin ISD 2009 2010 Budget. The information presented a comparison of expenditures and revenue for the current year functions and what is anticipated for 2009-2010. Information concerning the General Fund included additional teaching positions to be paid by Local Funds as well as anticipated District purchases. Questions and comments were made and discussed concerning these purchases. The Proposed Capital Project for 2008-09 which would replace lighting at the football field was discussed. The funding for this project would come from the Archer County money. The Board requested bids for the Public Address System which is needed for security reasons at the high school. Ms. Margoitta explained to the Board that the General Fund included a Budget Deficit, due to the decrease in the current enrollment. The Board directed Ms. Margoitta to delete the purchase of a truck for FFA and consider the purchase of only one bus for the District. The Board continued to ask questions and make comments concerning the proposed 2009-2010 Budget. Final approval of the proposed budget would be made at the next meeting scheduled for June 25, 2009.

Adjournment - Board President, Lowanda Sias adjourned the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
