MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

Marlin Middle School Cafeteria 6:00 p.m.

March 23, 2010

Call to Order - Board President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Moment of silence was observed. Pledges to the American Flag and the Texas Flag were led by Marlin Elementary School students in Ms. Gallaghers and Ms. Simoas second grade classes.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Lisa Silvas, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, David Lawson, and Steve Johnson. A quorum was established for the meeting.

Public Comments/Audience Participation - None

Consent Agenda - Motion made by Sonja Washington, seconded by Tania Baker to approve Minutes of the Regular Meeting held February 16, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. and monthly financial report. Motion carried unanimously.

Budget Amendment(s) - Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Steve Johnson to approve budget amendments for I. & S. interest on closing date of the refunding program and funds to cover transfer to 461 Middle School Band Activity Account. Motion carried unanimously.

Discontinue Cell Phones to District Employees - Motion made by Roger Nutt, seconded by Sonja Washington to discontinue providing cell phones to district employees at the end of the current contract ending August 31, 2010. Motion carried unanimously.

Interquest Detection Canines Agreement 2010-2011 - Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Tania Baker to approve service agreement by and between Interquest Detection Canines of Waco and Marlin I.S.D. for 2010-2011. Motion carried unanimously.

Update 87 - Motion made by Roger Nutt, I move that the board add, revise, or delete (LOCAL) Policies as recommended by TASB Policy Service and according to the Instruction Sheet for TASB Localized Policy Manual Update 87. Motion seconded by Steve Johnson. Motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced at 6:12 p.m. that the Board would go into closed session under Texas Government Code 551.146. The board reconvened into open session at 8:16 p.m.

Civil Action W-09-162 Henderson Case - No action taken

Renewal of Contract Personnel for 2010-2011 - Motion made by Roger Nutt to approve renewal of contracts for personnel for the 2010-2011 school year. Motion seconded by Steve Johnson. Motion carried unanimously.
