MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT

November 17, 2009

Call to Order - Board President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. Moment of silence was observed. Trustee, Roger Nutt led the trustees and visitors in the pledge to the American Flag and Texas Flag.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, and Steve Johnson. Trustee, David Lawson arrived at 6:05 p.m. A quorum was established for the meeting.

Public Comments/Audience Participation - None

Consent Agenda - Motion made by Steve Johnson, seconded by Tania Baker to approve minutes of the Public Hearing on School FIRST, Financial Accountability Rating System of Texas held October 20, 2009 at 5:45 p.m., Minutes of Regular Meeting held October 20, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. and Monthly Financial Report as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Elect to Reserve $2,734.562.00 of Fund Balance - Motion made by Steve Johnson, seconded by Roger Nutt to approve to reserve $2,734,562.00 of fund balance for future capital projects. Motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced at 6:06 p.m. that the Board would go into closed session to discuss personnel matters under Texas Government Code 551.146. The Board reconvened into open session at 7:01 p.m.

Superintendents Appraisal, Goals, Directives, Contract, Compensations, etc. - No action taken.

Recommendation/Approval of Employment for 2009-2010 - No action taken.

Resignation of Trustee - Motion made by Steve Johnson, seconded by David Lawson to accept the resignation of Trustee, Danny Vickers. Motion carried unanimously.

Appointment of Trustee - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced that a committee would be formed to select trustee candidates and interviews of these individuals would follow.

Resignation(s) - The Board recognized the following resignation as received and accepted by Ray Matthews, Superintendent.

Retirement resignation of Rockney Terry, Career and Technology Director effective November 30, 2009.

Adjournment - Board President, Lowanda Sias adjourned the meeting at 7:03 p.m.
