SPECIALL CALLED MEETING

MARLIN I.S.D. BOARD OF TRUSTEES

6:00 p.m.

Call to Order - Board President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Roll Call - Roger Nutt, Lisa Silvas, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, David Kenny and Steve Johnson. Trustee, Tania Baker was absent. A quorum was established for the meeting.

Discussion Items - Vince Margoitta, Maintenance Director presented a report on the recent inspection of the District by the State Health Department. He began his report by indicating the violations found by the inspector on each campus, the field house, football concession stands and the vocational building. All violations have been repaired or corrected, except for a few in which parts have been ordered. A corrective action has been submitted to the State Health Department detailing what had been done and a timeline for having all the issues addressed. Some major repairs will be completed during the summer break. A report from Mr. Margoitta was also given concerning the air conditioner in the computer server room. He indicated that the unit has been repaired by adding Freon.

Mayo Neyland, TASB Representative addressed the Board concerning the Superintendent/CEO search. He addressed the Board�s recent decision to not hire a Superintendent from the candidates interviewed the previous week. He stated he was there to present ideas about options. His options included terminating the process or reopening the search and starting over immediately in the summer. He stated the process would be shorter the second time, as a lot of the work had already been done. His strongest option is to start again in December, January or February when individuals start to make decisions about relocating or moving into a Superintendent position. He then gave the Board an opportunity to ask questions about search options and continuation of the process. He was not asking for a decision at the meeting, as he recognized the discussion was not considered an action item.

Closed Session - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced at 6:16 p.m. that the Board would go into closed session under Texas Government code 551.146(a). The Board reconvened into open session at 8:04 p.m.

Superintendent�s Appraisal, Goals, Directives, Contract, Compensation, etc. - No action taken

Recommendation to Terminate the Employment of Employees on Probationary Contracts in the Best Interest of the District at the End of the Contract Period - At the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Steve Johnson, seconded by David Kenny to terminate the employment of employees on probationary contracts in the best interest of the District at the end of the contract period as listed under separate cover. Motion carried unanimously.

Recommendation To Give Written Notice of Proposed Nonrenewal of Teacher Term Contracts - No action taken

Recommendation to Give Written Notice of Proposed Nonrenewal of Administrator Term Contract - At the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Roger Nutt, seconded by Steve Johnson to give written notice of proposed nonrenewal of administrator term contract as listed under separate cover. Motion carried unanimously.

Recommendation for Renewal of Administrator Term Contract for 2011-2012 - At the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Steve Johnson, seconded by Sonja Washington to renew the administrator term contract for 2011-2012 as listed under separate cover. Motion carried unanimously.

Recommendation For Renewal of Teacher Term Contracts for 2011-2012 - At the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made by Roger Nutt, seconded by Sonja Washington to recommend renewal of term contracts for 2011-2012 to the following teachers. Motion carried unanimously.

Recommendation Of Renewal of Teacher Probationary Contracts for 2011-2012 - At the recommendation of the Superintendent, a motion was made Roger Nutt, seconded by Lisa Silvas to recommend renewal of probationary contracts for 2011-2012 to the following teachers. Motion carried unanimously.
