School Board Meeting - November 21, 1997

Superintendent's Report-

School will be out for the Thanksgiving Holidays, November 24-28. Kindergarten and first grade will be out of the First Baptist Church by Friday, November 21. Monday, November 17, Middle School/Junior High Schools were out due to a blown transformer. With deepest sympathy, Wendy Williams, Elementary aide, has passed away.

Consent Agenda

Motion by Mrs. Billie Jones, seconded by Mr. Keith Drews, to approve the agenda with the following changes: to table Item G (consider and accept bids for renovation at junior high) and to table #8 Discussion Item - Honor Classes. The motion carried unanimously. Consent Agenda Items: agenda, minutes of the Oct. 21 meeting and bills.

Teacher's Salary Adjustment

Motion by Mrs. Billie Jones, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to approve the salary adjustment for teacher named as recommended. The motion carried unanimously.

Architects for New Facility

Motion by Mrs. Billie Jones, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to interview the three architects as recommended. The motion carried unanimously. Recommended architects are: Rabe + Partners Architects; The Voelter Group; Barnes Architects.

Insurance Adjuster

Motion by Mr. Keith Drews, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to approve recommendation to contract with Robert Aguilar to act on our behalf and engage The Travelers Insurance Company to ensure that we receive the proper monetary return on insurance. The motion carried unanimously.

TIF Grant

Motion by Ms. Elaine Truett, seconded by Mrs. Billie Jones, to approve the Technology Infrastructure Grant (TIF). The motion carried unanimously.

Land Purchase for New Facility

Motion by Mr. Keith Drews, seconded by Mrs. Billie Jones, to approve purchase of 28.75 acres of land as per the Earnest Money Agreement made earlier. The motion carried unanimously. (The dollar amount paid for the land - $22,000.00).

Accept Bid - Track Renovation

Motion by Mrs. Billie Jones, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to accept the bid of $35,660.00 from Vibra-Whirl & Co. for renovation of the track. The motion carried unanimously.

Textbook Committee

Motion by Mr. Keith Drews, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to approve the list of names to serve on the 1997-98 Textbook Committee. The motion carried unanimously. The 1997-98 Textbook Committee: Helen Sehon, Anita Tate, Annie Williams, Jo Ann Garrison, Sharon Giles, Louise Erwin, Patricia Woodson, Sue Willert, Donna Scott, Stacey Manning, Sabrina Onalaja, Craig Zost, Wayne Ransleben, Bobbie Milton, and Kevin Barnes.

Resolution - Cast Votes MISD Rep. for Appraisal District Board of Directors

Motion by Ms. Elaine Truett, seconded by Mrs. Billie Jones, to approve Resolution casting 1001 votes for Rosie Sedillo, MISD Representative on the Appraisal District Board of Directors, and 293 votes for the City of Marlin candidate, C.L. Moore. The motion carried unanimously.
