ACTION REPORT

Special Called School Board Meeting - July 1, 1999

All Board Members Present

Results of Closed Session:

Consultation with Attorney - President Douglas stated the Board consulted with the attorney regarding the appointment, employment, resignation, evaluation, duties, discipline or dismissal of the superintendent, assignment of duties and appointment of interim pending employment of new superintendent under Texas Gov't. Code 551.074.

Resignation of Superintendent - Motion by Ms. Rose Sedillo, seconded by Ms. Lowanda Washington, that the Board accept the resignation of its superintendent, Dr. Allen Thornell, and the agreement thereto, effective immediately. The motion carried unanimously.

Assignment of Interim Superintendent - Motion by Mr. Samuel Garcia, seconded by Mr. Danny Vickers, that the Board assign Letha Hopkins to serve in the temporary assignment as interim superintendent with all the powers and duties of superintendent until such time a superintendent is hired or until the Board takes further action. Voting for: Mr. Samuel Garcia, Mr. Danny Vickers, Ms. Rose Sedillo, Mr. Keith Alston, Mr. Carman Dingrando and Mr. Arthur Douglas. Ms. Lowanda Washington abstained from voting. The motion passed.

School Employees or Public Officers - No action was taken to deliberate the appointment, employment, resignation, evaluation, duties, discipline or dismissal of school employees or public officers.
