Regularly Scheduled School Board Meeting - March 23, 1999

All Board members present.

Consent Agenda: Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Rose Sedillo, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Voting for: Mr. Arthur Douglas, Ms. Rose Sedillo, Ms. Elaine Truett, Mrs. Billie Jones, Ms. Lowanda Washington and Mr. Keith Alston. Mr. Carman Dingrando abstained from voting. The motion carried. Consent agenda items: agenda, minutes of the February 16, 1999 meeting, bills from City Auto Parts and other bills.

Proposals - Construction Manager -At -Risk for Middle School - Only one proposal was submitted for Construction Manager-At-Risk for Middle School, that being from Baird Williams Construction, LTD. Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to table this item until a copy of the proposal is made available and viewed by the Board. The motion carried unanimously.

1997-98 Audit - A copy of the 1997-98 audit report was given to each of the Board members. Mr. Andy Gorman with Pattillo, Brown & Hill, L.L.P. gave a presentation to the Board concerning the audit report and answered questions asked by the Board. Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Mr. Carman Dingrando, to accept the 1997-98 audit as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

Proposals - Property & Casualty Ins., Auto & Employee Benefits Ins. - Motion by Mr. Carman Dingrando, seconded by Mr. Arthur Douglas, to authorize the superintendent to obtain proposals for Property & Casualty Ins., Auto and Employee Benefits Insurance and approve current binding of the coverage. The motion carried unanimously.

Adopt Textbooks for 1999-2000 - Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to accept recommendation to adopt all state approved conforming and non-conforming text books for the 1999-2000 school year. The motion carried unanimously.

Adopt School Calendar 1999-2000 -Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Rose Sedillo, to approve the proposed school calendar for the 1999-2000 school year with proviso that the graduation date for seniors be changed to Friday. The motion carried unanimously.

Early Voting Judge, Alternate Early Voting Judge, Judges & Clerks for District A, B, C, D & E. - Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Lowanda Washington, to accept the slate of judges for the May 1st Trustee election. The motion carried unanimously. They are as follows:

Reimbursement of Duplicated Taxes Paid By a Taxpayer - Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Rose Sedillo, to approve reimbursement ($624.29) of duplicated taxes paid by a taxpayer. The motion carried unanimously.

Reaffirm School's Position on Daytime Curfew - The Board chose not to take any action on this agenda item.

Results of Closed Session:

The Board chose not to take any action on an employee grievance.

Contract extension for Certain Administrators - Motion by Ms. Lowanda Washington, seconded by Ms. Rose Sedillo to approve recommendation for a one year contract extension (1999-2000 school year) for the following: Ms. Peggy Johnson, Ms. Andra Sparks, Mrs. Rose Douglas, Mr. Gene Erwin, Mr. Chuck Kautzer, and Mr. Jerry Malone. Voting for: Ms. Lowanda Washington, Ms. Rose Sedillo, Ms. Elaine Truett, Mrs. Billie Jones, Mr. Keith Alston and Mr. Carman Dingrando. Mr. Arthur Douglas abstained from voting. The motion carried.

Employment of Contract Personnel for 1999-2000 - Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Rose Sedillo, to accept recommendations for contract personnel for the 1999-2000 school year as presented. The motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Resignations - Motion by Mr. Arthur Douglas, seconded by Ms. Elaine Truett, to accept the resignation from Ronnie Perry as of February 23, 1999. The motion carried unanimously.
