MINUTES
MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
January 15, 2008 6:00 p.m.

Call to Order Board President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m.

Moment of silence was observed

Trustees and audience members participated in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag. Charter Members of the MMS National Junior Honor Society led both pledges. The organization is sponsored by Gilsie Wiese andLaura Oates.

Roll Call: Roger Nutt, Danny Vickers, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias and Steve Johnson. David Lawson was absent. A quorum was present for the meeting.

Public Comments/ Audience Participation - Patricia Brown presented a check to the Board for a portion of the Band Booster Club's financial commitment to pay
half of the purchase price of new band uniforms.

School Board Recognition - Mr. Ray Matthews, Superintendent thanked the trustees for all their hard work and dedication to the students and employees of Marlin I.S.D. He acknowledged the presentation of gifts to the trustees from each campus.

Consent Agenda - Motion made by Steve Johnson, seconded by Sonja Washington to approve the consent agenda as presented. Consent agenda items include: Minutes of the Public Hearing on 2006-07 AEIS Report, December 18, 2007 at 6:00 p.m., Minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 18, 2007 at 6:15 p.m. and monthly financial report. Motion carried unanimously.

Approval of TEASE Requests - Motion made by Roger Nutt, seconded by Steve Johnson to allow the superintendent to delegate approval of TEASE requests
to other District staff. The motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced at 6:13 p.m. the Board would go into closed session to discuss personnel matters under Texas Gov't Code 551.146.The Board reconvened into open session at 7:29 p.m.

Superintendent's Appraisal, Goals, Directives, Contract, Compensation, etc. - No action taken

Employment of Personnel -No action taken

Adjournment - Board President, Lowanda Sias adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
