MINUTES
MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MARLIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
March 25, 2008 6:00 p.m.

Call to Order Board President, Lowanda Sias called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

Moment of Silence was observed.

Trustees and audience members participated in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Texas Flag. Students in Ms. Lisa Colin's second grade class led both pledges.

Roll Call: Roger Nutt, Danny Vickers, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, Davis Lawson and Steve Johnson. A quorum was present for the meeting.

Public Comments/ Audience Participation - Elizabeth Nelson, representing the Boys and Girls Club of Falls County presented a brief summary of the proposed 21st Century Grant currently being pursued for the club. Mrs. Nelson requested the support of the District, along with other organizations in the efforts to acquire this grant.

Harmony Carroll, fifth grade student in Mrs. Ethelene Green's class recited a poem she had written as a class assignment to the Board. The poem was titled "Equipment".

Bill(s) to The Chicken Place - Motion made by David Lawson, seconded by Steve Johnson to pay bill(s) to The Chicken Place. Trustees voting in favor of payment were: Roger Nutt, Tania Baker, Sonja Washington, Lowanda Sias, David Lawson and Steve Johnson. Trustee, Danny Vickers abstained from voting. Motion carried with a vote of six voting in favor of payment and one abstained.

Consent Agenda - Motion made by Danny Vickers, seconded by Sonja Washington to approve the consent agenda as presented. Consent agenda items included: Minutes of the Regular Meeting held February 19, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. and the monthly financial report. Motion carried unanimously.

Audit Engagement For 2007-08 Fiscal Year - Motion made by Sonja Washington, seconded by Tania Baker to approve audit engagement between Marln ISD and Singleton, Moore & Company LLP. Motion carried unanimously.

Personnel Matters - Board President, Lowanda Sias announced at 6:15 p.m., the Board would go into closed session to discuss personnel matters
under Texas Gov't. Code 551.146. The Board reconvened into open session at 7:13 p.m.

Superintendent's Appraisal, Goals, Directives, Contract, Compensations, etc. - No action taken

Action for Renewal Of Term Contracts For 2008-09 - Motion made by Danny Vickers, seconded by David Lawson for the recommendation and renewal of personnel term contracts for 2008-09 to the following: Motion carried unanimously.
