ACTION REPORT
Regular Scheduled Board Meeting - January 15, 2002
The meeting was called to order by President Lowanda Washington at 7:02 PM
Invocation was given by trustee Roger Nutt.
Pledge of Allegiance was led by members of the 8th grade boys basketball team. After the pledge, middle school principal, Mrs. JoAnn Garrison informed the Board that the team was undefeated this year. The Board thanked them for coming.

Superintendent, Dr. Letha Hopkins informed the Board that January is School Board Recognition month. She presented a Proclamation from Mayor Karen Little Meyer. She thanked the Board for their support, especially in the last days regarding the loss of two MISD teachers. Each Board member was given a gift of appreciation from each campus.
There were no public comments.

Bill (s) from City Auto Parts - Motion by Mr. Roger Nutt, seconded by Mrs. Rose Morin, to approve the bills from City Auto Parts. Voting for: Mr. Roger Nutt, Mrs. Rose Morin, Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mrs. Byrleen Terry, and Mr. Danny Vickers. Mr. Carman Dingrando abstained from voting. The motion passed.

Voting for: Mrs. Byrleen Terry, Mr. Carman Dingrando, Mrs. Rose Morin, Ms. Lowanda Washington, and Mr. Roger Nutt. Mr. Danny Vickers abstained from voting. The motion passed.

Voting for: Mr. Danny Vickers, Mr. Carman Dingrando, Ms. Lowanda Washington, Mrs. Rose Morin, and Mrs. Byrleen Terry. Mr. roger Nutt abstained from voting. The motion passed.
Consent Agenda - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Mr. Roger Nutt, to approve the consent agenda as presented. The motion carried unanimously. Consent agenda items: agenda, minutes of the December 18 (6:30 PM), December 18 (6:45 PM), and December 18 (7:00 PM), 2001 public hearing-redistricting/public hearing-AEIS Report/meeting and other bills.
Tax Resale Deed - Motion by Mrs. Rose Morin, seconded by Mrs. Byrleen Terry, to approve bid of $100.00 from Carolyn Guillotte for property Lot 8, Block 2, Lee Phillips Subdivision of Original Outlot 138, City of Marlin recorded in Volume 24, page 123, Deed records of Falls County. The motion carried unanimously.
Accept Bid for School Bus - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Mrs. Rose Morin, to accept bid of $74,124.00 from Capital Bus Sales for a school bus. The motion carried unanimously.
Solicit Bids for Projects Funded by School Repair & Renovation Grant Funds - Motion by Mr. Roger Nutt, seconded by Mrs. Byrleen Terry, to authorize superintendent to solicit bids for projects to be funded by the School Repair and Renovation Grant funds. The motion carried unanimously.
Bid Electricity Deregulation Until Proposal is Accepted - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Mr. Carman Dingrando, to authorize superintendent/business office to bid electricity deregulation monthly until proposal is accepted. The motion carried unanimously.
Solicit Bids for Property/Inland Marine, Liability, Auto & Commercial General Liability Insurance - Motion by Mr. Danny Vickers, seconded by Mr. Roger Nutt, to authorize superintendent/business office to solicit bids for Property/Inland Marine Liability, Auto & Commercial General Liability Insurance coverage. The motion carried unanimously.
Solicit Bids for Errors & Omissions Insurance - Motion by Mr. Roger Nutt, seconded by Mrs. Rose Morin, to authorize superintendent/business office to solicit bids for Errors & Omissions Insurance coverage. The motion carried unanimously.
Fiscal Year Change - Motion by Mrs. Byrleen Terry, seconded by Mr. Carman Dingrando, to approve Notification of Intent to Change the Fiscal Year Start Date to July 1, 2002. The motion carried unanimously.
Discussion Item - Sodexho Contract Extension for Janitorial Services - Superintendent Hopkins briefed the Board regarding the letter from Ken Sisk, Sodexho Regional Manager, listing options on the contract extension. A short discussion ensued. Superintendent Hopkins informed the Board that they will discuss this more during budget planning.
Discussion Item - Update from E.S. - Superintendent Hopkins informed the Board that Ms. Kelley Berry, Elementary Principal, was not able to be at the meeting. An update will be mailed to them Friday.
Results of Closed Session:
Results of Superintendent's Evaluation - No action was taken on this agenda item.
Superintendent Contract Extension - Motion by Mr. Roger Nutt, seconded by Mrs. Rose Morin, to extend the superintendent's contract one year to June 30, 2004; compensation increased to $80,256; continue the $250 travel allowance and reimburse mileage for out of district travel at the current district rate; and continue the performance incentives. The motion carried unanimously.
Personnel Employment - Motion by Mrs. Byrleen Terry, seconded by Mrs. Rose Morin, to employ Suzanne Hill - English high school. The motion carried unanimously.
Personnel Resignations - Motion by Mrs. Byrleen Terry, seconded by Mr. Roger Nutt, to accept resignations from RaShaundra Sterling and Kathy Sanders. The motion carried unanimously.
BOARD COMMENTS:
Roger Nutt - Prayers are with administrators, faculty and students. Thanks to the campuses for the gifts.
