ACTION REPORT
Special Called School Board Meeting - May 15, 2001
The meeting was called to order by President , Arthur Douglas, at 6:30 p.m. Roll call was then taken with Mr. Douglas, Ms. Lownada Washington, Mrs. Rose Morin and Mrs. Byrleen Terry present. Board trustees, Mr. Danny Vickers and Mr. Carman Dingrando arrived a few minute late. Absent was Mr. Keith Alston.
Agenda Items:
District Plan for 2001-2002 - Superintendent Hopkins reviewed the 2001-2001 District Plan with the Board. Principals Kelley Berry, Jo Ann Garrison, Gabriel Cary along with Guadalupe Lopez, Bilingual teacher, touched on certain parts of the plan. Questions were asked by the Board members.
Elementary School Campus Plan 2001-2002 - Kelley Berry, Elementary School Principal, addressed the Board on the elementary school goals: 1) Improve Student Achievement and Learning; 2) Improve Parental Involvement; 3) Provide an Environment Conducive to Learning; 4) Improve School Climate. Ms. Berry answered questions asked by the Board members.
Middle School Campus Plan 2001-2002 - Jo Ann Garrison, Middle School Principal, addressed the Board on the middle school goals: 1) To impement and continually evaluate a comprehensive and aligned curriculum; 2) To continually strive for successful instructional practices that are promoted by planning, program development and evaluation; 3) To continually maintain a safe and disciplined environment conducive to learning; 4) To continually desire a high level of community/parental involvement. Mrs. Garrison answered questions asked by the Board members.
High School Campus Plan 2001-2002 - Gabriel Cary, High School Principal, addressed the Board on the high school goals: 1) Students will reach their potential on TAAS (90% in all areas for all groups); 2) Improve public relations; 3) Focus budget on student achievement; 4) Focus on student achievement; 5) Enhance student achievement among special population students. Mr. Cary answered questions asked by the Board members.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
