Dogs
Tame The Tigers
The Marlin Bulldog baseball team took their game on the road to Rockdale on April Fool's Day and came away with a hard fought one run victory 7-6.
Rockdale took an early 2-0 in the first off starter Devon Hughes. The Dogs came back and scored four in the second and two more in the third to take a 6-2 lead as the teams headed to the 5th inning. The Tigers scored three times and were down only one going to the bottom of the sixth where they tied the game.
But in the top of the seventh the Dogs answered the Tiger comeback. Cody Malone singled to start the inning. Mark Jimenez then hit into a fielder's choice. The Tigers forced Malone at second and Jimenez was safe at first. On a passed ball, Jimenez moved to second. The next batter "Big Cat" Eric Venegas laced a single to right center scoring Jimenez with what proved to be the winning run. Venegas continues to be the Hot Hitter for the Dogs as his district average hovers at the .556 mark.
Malone picked up the win giving up two runs over three innings pitched.
The Dogs will close out round one of district play at Troy on Friday, April 4th. They will return home on Tuesday April 8 to take on Caldwell as second round action gets underwway. Game time 5PM JV and 7:30 PM Varsity/
