BULLDOGS DEMOLISH LEOPARDS

AS TRAVIS MILLER RUSHES FOR 123 YARDS AND SCORES TWO TOUCHDOWNS

#22 TRAVIS MILLER

The Dogs dressed out from their brand new field house this pass Friday night and they definitely came out on a mission after a heart breaking loss last week. From the get go it was all Dogs as Sophomore running back Travis Miller had a huge game as he rushed for 123 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns while quarterback Jeremy Sanders again showed his arm strength throwing for 203 yards on 13 of 17 passes and three TD"S as the Dogs rolled over the Leopards to the tune of 42-14.
The Dogs didn't take very long to get on the scoreboard in this one as they moved 68 yards in seven plays taking only 2 ½ minutes to score. It was Denario Alexander catching his first TD pass of the night from Sanders that covered 15 yards. Craig Contreras, who also had a big night kicking the ball, connected for his first of six PAT's. Score 7-0 Dogs.
The Dog defense showed their stuff holding the Leopards to another three and out on their second possession forcing a Leopard punt. The Dogs wasted no time in adding to their points. This time it took only 1 minute and 42 seconds to score as Miller scored his first TD of the night from one yard out. This drive covered 61 yards in six plays. Contreras added the point after to make it 14-0 Dogs
As we moved to the second quarter, the Dogs scored again with 8:42 remaining in the half. Sanders showed his speed this time as he ran it in from 10 yards out. Contreras made it 21-0 and the rout was on.
The Dogs just kept on coming. Hungry for that end zone. Just before the half Alexander caught his 2nd TD pass from Sanders. This one covered 16 yards and with the point after it was 28-0 at the half.
Moving to the third quarter once again it would be the speedy Miller and the arm of Sanders doing most of the damage. A seven play drive capped by Miller's second rushing TD of the night covering seven yards and Contreras' point after the scored grew to 35-0.
Finally though, the outmanned Leopards found the end zone. With under a minute to play in the third quarter, QB Kevin Black found Tommy Goodrich for a 7 yard hook up to make it a 35-7 game.
The Dogs though weren't done yet. Who would it be this time? How about #12 Kenny Evans. Sanders tosses a beautiful pass to a wide open Evans that covers 37 yards and with extra point number six the score was 42-7.
The Leopards closed out the scoring with a 15 yard run by Black to make the final 42-14.
Leading rusher for the Dogs in this one was Miller with 123 yards, two touchdowns on 11 carries. Leading receiver was Alexander with five catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
The Dogs will again be at home this week for their third home game in a row. This time it will be the state ranked Cadets from Connally coming to Legion Field. Connally won a close one over Alvarado this past Friday night 21-19 to move to 4-0 on the year. This one should be a real good one folks. Don't miss it! Game time 7:30 PM
