Marlin ISD

It was a tight defensive struggle in the first half as both teams went to the locker room with the score 0-0. But in the second half, the power running of Crockett senior D. T. Hopkins finally wore down the less experiences Bulldog D and Crockett went on to a 14-6 victory.

Marlin suffered a big blow on the first offensive play from scrimmage as star running back, Cecil Kelly went down with a dislocated shoulder. (Kelly will probably be out at least two weeks) Antonio Davis took over a tailback and turned in a very impressive game rushing for 120 yards on 23 carries.

Marlin's lone touchdown was set up on a beautiful pass from QB Shaun Henry to running back Reggie Smith covering 50 yards down to inside the Crockett 10 yard line. Henry then found the endzone on a keeper around the left side to make the final 14-6.

Marlin hits the road for the third straight week on September 19 to take on Fairfield for their final warm up game before starting district play at home on September 26 against Troy.
