Bulldogs Come From Behind To "Hall" Down the Goats!

All the dogs needed to do this past Friday Night was to take care of the Goats from Groesbeck and they would finish district as undefeated district champions for the second year in a row.

Early on though this turned out to be no easy task as the Goats jumped out to a 13-0 lead behind Jimmie Moore's touchdown passes to Alann Stinnett and Korey Ransom. Stinnett finished the night with three receptions for 72 yards while Ransom hauled in three passes for 61 yards. Moore finished the night with 150 yards passing on 9-25.

This 13-0 lead would hold up until the 1:55 mark of the first quarter when bulldog quarterback, Thaddeus Freeman hit Courtney Richardson on a 39 - yard pass and run for a touchdown. Their second score came not the way anyone expected - Forced to punt from inside their 30 the snap went over punter Alvin Halls head - Hall picked up the loose ball looked and found running room and 72 yards later - TOUCHDOWN BULLDOGS! The extra point try turned out to be costly for the dogs as once again the hike from center was high and the dog kicker, Daniel Ronquilla, tried to fall on the ball and in the process dislocated his elbow. (Status for next game undetermined at press time). So the score was 13-12 Goats as the teams went to their lockers.

Hall struck again on a 25-yard run midway through the third quarter, and quarterback, Freeman called his own number on the two-point conversion to give the dogs the lead for good. The bulldog defense held the Goats scoreless in the second half and the dogs went on to another undefeated district championship with a final score of 20-13.

Hall finished the night as the top dog rusher with 114 yards rushing. Leading the defense was John Sadler with 13 tackles giving him a team high of 110 on the year.

So now its playoff time once again for the dogs! This Saturday night they will take on the Rusk Eagles at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville at 7PM. We will be the visitors and a map on how to get there can be found elsewhere in the Democrat.

See ya at the game~!
