The dogs from Marlin did not disappoint their homecoming crowd on October 30 as they "treated" them by lighting up the scoreboard in the second half on the way to a 33-3 victory.

The first half saw the Marlin bulldog offense kept in check by the McGregor bulldogs. The only points scored came on a 61-yard run by DeMarcus "The Bus" Smith with just over seven minutes left in the second quarter.

But while the Marlin dogs werenít scoring either were the McGregor bulldogs as they were held to a LONG field goal covering 45 yards. Steve Thomas and Clifton Hopwood for the Marlin dogs turned in stands out defensive plays.

In the second half the Marlin bulldog offensive unit got it in gear, scoring on four of five possessions. The first score came on a five-yard pass from QB Jeremy Modkins to WR Desmond Watson. The second score came on a one yard run by DeMarcus Smith and the 2 point conversion was good as Modkins hit Watson to make it 20-3 with just over a minute to play in the third quarter.

Touchdown number three of the second half came with just over four minutes left in the game as Donald Benjamin scored from eleven yards out. Nathan Polster added the extra point to make it 27-3.

After holding the McGregor bulldogs to three and out, Marlin set up shop at the McGregor 41-yard line. On second and nine, Benjamin broke free and scampered 38 yards to the three-yard line. The next play saw Benjamin take it in to make the final score 33-3.

The Marlin defensive unit once more turned in a stellar performance. Perhaps their best all year as they held the McGregor bulldogs to a total of minus seven yards on the night.

Marlin will close out the season this coming Friday night at Lorena. The Leopards have dominated in the past three years having won all three contests. Look for the bulldogs to change that tread as they move on into the playoffs!
