Quarterback Jeremy Modkins ran for two touchdowns, scored on a two point conversion, intercepted a pass and ran it back 51 yards to lead the bulldogs pass Robinson 30-7 to open district play.
The bulldog defense was also in tune as they held the Rockets to 113 yards and forced four turnovers.
DeMarcus "Mo" Smith turned in another fine performance rushing for 106 yards on 12 carries and returning an interception 31 yards for a touchdown.
Modkins got the bulldogs on the scoreboard on the last play of the first quarter taking it in from 13 yards out. The kick by Brandon Lofton was no good but the bulldogs had the lead at 6-0.
Midway through the second quarter, Modkins completed his only pass of the night, but it was a long one covering 76 yards to his favorite receiver Desmond Watson. Watson was dragged down from behind at the Rocket three yard line. Two plays later, Modkins scored his second touchdown of the night. Then Modkins ran it in for the two point conversion to put the dogs up 14-0.
Modkins still wasn't through. On the last play before halftime, he intercepted a Rocket pass and returned it 51 yards before being hauled down.
The bulldogs extended their lead to 20-0 when Mo Smith intercepted a Rocket pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown. Lofton's point after was good to make it 21-0 with 5:27 to play in the third.
Robinson would finally get on the score board on a 12 play 77 yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Billy Reid to Matthew Wright with just over a minute remaining in the third period. The point after by Kevin Fowler was good. It was also the last point the Rockets would score on this night..
The final bulldog touchdown of the night came on a 18-yard run by Roderick Scruggs with 2:41 remaining in the game. Lofton's kick was good to make it 28-0. The last score of the game was a two point safety credited to the bulldog defense when the Rocket center hiked the ball over the outstretched hands of the punter. Final score Bulldogs 30 Rockets 7.
The bulldogs take it to the road one more time next week as they travel to the "Hornets Nest" at Gatesville.
Then it's homecoming on October 22nd as the Cameron Yoemen come to Legion Field.
See ya at the game!
