Bulldogs Put On A Fantastic Show But Come Up
Short
On a very cold night at Legion Field, the underdog Marlin team put up a gallant fight against the state ranked University Trojans but came up one goal short in a 1-2 loss. The first half saw all of the scoring for the entire game. University came out and scored 90 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. But the Bulldogs came back as Hugo Gonzales scored unassisted to tie the game at 1 at the 20 minute mark. No more than five minutes later, the Trojans sneaked in a goal just out of the reach of Bulldog goalkeeper, Antonio Reyes' hands that proved the game winner.
Daniel Ronquillo, Marco Hernandez, Jesus Calderon and Gonzales had several opportunities on goal to tie it up, but could not manage to sneak one in.
The team travels to La Vega on Tuesday, February
11 and then it's onto Lorena on Friday the 14th. Then a BIG showdown with Corsicana
at home on the 18th which could go a long way in determining the third and final
spot in the playoffs.
