The Marlin Boys Track and Field Team particpated in the Max Hibbts relays at Connally High School on March 5th. The team consisted of only FIVE members, but those FIVE had a GREAT showing. The team members were Lafabian King, Chris Battise, Kevin Murphy, Josh Scott and John Evans. Thet team finished second in the 800 meter Relay just behind Midway High School. There were two outstanding individual performances by Chris Battise, who finished 3rd in the 200 meter dash and John Evans finishing 3rd in the 400 meter dash. Three of these team members also competed in the U.I.L. Band Competition earlier in the day in Groesbeck then rushed to the track just in time to compete in the 400 meter Relay were they took 5th place.

Please congratulate these young men for their outstanding performance and thanks to all who attended. The team will be competing this Thursday, March 11th in Mexia at the Scotty Neal Invitational. We look forward to seeing you there.

The LADY BULLODGS competed at their first track and field meet of this season on last evening, March 5th. The ladies were very impressive as they ran, jumped, and threw in the various events. This year the Lady Dog Squad is fortunate enough to have a total (26) athletes and I must say that this number is very high for a class 2A school. So, for the first time in a while, the squad will constist of two full teams, a JV and a Varsity.

In the Varsity Division our seniors lead the way to a fourth place finish overall behind the Class 3A Track and Field PowerHouse-Connally, and Class 4A's-Midway and Round-Rock-Westwood. As always, the Lady Dogs stepped up to the competiton and leading the way were the returning seniors; TyNeisha Washington, Jasmine Armstead and Shalise Shelley.

And the results were...

TyNeisha Washington - 1st Place, Shot Put.......6th Place Discus.

Dashondria Davis - 2nd Place, Shot Put

Cederia Taylor- 3rd Place, Shot Put

Jasmine Armstead - 1st Place 100 Meters, 6th Place-High Jump

Shalise Shelley - 4th Place, Triple Jump

400 Meter Relay - 6th Place (Tiffany Coleman, Jasmine Armstead, Shalise Shelley and Jacci Judie)

800 Meter Relay - 3rd Place(Tiffany Coleman, Tyneshae Lewis, Shalise Shelley, and Jasmine Armstead)

Our goal is for the LADY BULLDOGS to be BIGGER, FASTER, and STRONGER than the rest, that's why our motto is...

No Speed Limit! No Boundaries!

The next meet will be Thursday, March 11th, in Mexia. Please come out to support the teams, if you can. As a friendly reminder, the Jr. Falls Relays we be held here on Friday, March 12th at Legion . We look forward to seeing you there.

The Lady Bulldogs collected a total of 176 points last night in Mexia to become CHAMPIONS of the Scotty Neal Relays. Since this meet only allowed a Varsity Girls' Division, our JV girls' competed at the Varsity level and they did a dynamic job. If you should see Ashynti Carter please praise her for the fact that she fell on the 300mtr. hurdle event but got back up and finished the race anyway. Despite the scrapes and bruises she placed fifth.

Therefore, therefore she gets the FIGHTING HEART AWARD for the week.

More results will follow.

39' 5.25"...What's this? It's the personal best for Tyneisha Washington in the Shot Put at the Bluebonnet Relays on Friday, March 19. Tyneisha's throw placed first and was followed by Dashondria Davis' throw of 35'9" for third place and Cederia Taylors' personal best of 34'11 1/2" for fourh place. These young ladies are awesome athletes who excel in the discus throw as well, but due to the wind Tyneisha was unable to get a legal mark in this event. However, Dashondria and Cederia continued to improve as they also threw their personal bests in this event. Dashondria placed sixth.

It's a bird?...it's a plane?...No it's a Lady Bulldog and she can fly!!!

12.18 seconds...this is the time it took for Jasmine Armstead to go from (0) to fast in the 100 meter dash. Even though this was Jasmine's fastest time of the season she placed second in this event.

SHE's BACK...WHO?...Brarysheyia Simpson that's who! With Brarysheyia, who was out because of a knee injury, the 4x400 relay team was very impressive finishing 3rd with a time of 4:20.74 seconds. Along with Shalise Shelley, Tyneshae Lewis, and Jamey Lang this relay team represented the whole school district and the community in a very competitive manner.

Tiffany Coleman...Jaccie Judie ... Ashley Waters... who are they and what do they do? They are the first leg, the anchor leg, the hurdler, and they run RRREEEAAALLLYYY fast.

Overall the Lady Bulldogs finished in 4th place with a total of (67) points.

The Lady Bulldogs will compete at Paul Tyson Stadium in Waco on Saturday, March 27th during the Nathaniel Haynes Invitational. We are inviting everyone to come out and watch these student athletes compete... you will be very proud of them.

RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS OR STAY ON THE PORCH.

That's the challenge given to the Lady Bulldogs this past Saturday at the Nathaniel Haynes Heart of Texas Relays in Waco....but not only did the bold athletes of Marlin High School run with the big dogs they sometimes even ran ahead of them. The ladies competed against schools like Temple, Killeen, Killeen Ellison, Midway, Waco High, University High, and Belton all of which are 4A and 5A schools, as a matter of fact Marlin was the smallest school in competition at the meet.

The highlights of Saturdays competition included the 4 X 200 (800) Relay team. Tiffany Coleman, Tyneshia Lewis, Brarysheyia Simpson, and Jasmine Armstead were the "big dogs" in this race and everyone else was trying to run with them as they ran an awesome time of 1:46.07 seconds to win 1st place. In the 300 meter hurdles TyNeshia Lewis clocked in with her personal best of 48.18 seconds for second place. Jasmine Armstead continues to drop her time in the 100 meter dash as she sprinted 12:16 seconds finishing in second place. Cederia Taylor finally got over 35' in the Shot Put with a throw of 36'4 inches, she placed third as Tyneshia Washington placed 1st.

To show how bold the Lady Bulldogs really are, Derricka Weatherspoon, Dashondria Davis, Imari Kirk, and Cederia Taylor competed in the Throwers Relay and took 1st place. These young ladies helped to prove that Marlin Girls' Track and Field Team is Bigger, Faster, and Stronger than the rest!

Therefore, the Lady Bulldogs are making the challenge to everyone else, big schools and little schools,...RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS OR STAY ON THE PORCH!

The boys also competed in the 83rd Annual Texas Relays held on the University of Texas Campus. The meet was held on Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3. The 4 x 100 relay team did not fair too well after a bad exchange. However, the 4 x 400 relay team ran their best time of the year with a time of 3:31 seconds.

Our next meet will be held on April 14-15 at Legion Field in Marlin. The Bulldogs will be the host for the District 20-2A Track & Field meet. Please come out and support these student athletes as they go for the Gold.

Thursday was April Fool's Day...and on this windy evening the Lady Bulldogs proved that they don't need wings to fly. No Joke!

As a team, Tiffany Coleman, Jasmine Armstead, Brarysheyia Simpson, and Tyneshae Lewis improved to a time of 1:45.3 seconds in the 4 X 200 Meter Relay as they jetted around the track to a second place finish.

Jasmine Armstead glided across the finish line in the 100 meter dash in 11.8 seconds and in the 200 meter dash she glided across the line in 25.1 seconds, winning two gold medals.

TyNeshia Washington made it seem as though the Shot Put and Discus have wings as she launched her personal best in Discus with a 106' performance and winning two gold medals in these events.

Tyneshae Lewis won not one, not two, but three gold medals at the Falls Relays; one in the High Jump, one in the Triple Jump, and one in the 300 Meter Hurdles. In the High Jump Tyneshae soared over the bar at 5'2",

her personal best of the season.

The Lady Bulldogs like to thank each of you who came out to support us because you were, and will always be, the wind beneath our wings. So come out and support the teams next week at the district meet on

April 14th and 15th here in Marlin.

BLING BLING...BLING BLING.

You will see it if you are at the high school today.

You will hear it if you are at the high school today.

Tyneshae Lewis will be wearing four necklaces of gold.

I hope that they are not too much for her body to hold.

Anchor Leg on the 4 X 1, Second Leg on the 4 X 2,

300 Meter Hurdles, and one in the High Jump too.

Jasmine Armstead will be wearing three necklaces of gold.

Her story of winning will never get old.

100 Meters, Anchor Leg on the 4 X 2,

and the 200 Merers, which for her is something new.

Tiffany Coleman will be wearing two necklaces of gold.

She's the leader, so she has to be bold.

First leg on the 4 X 1 and the 4 X 2,

without her, what would we do?

TyNeisha Washington, Brarysheyia Simpson, Jacci Judie and Kayla Crear

will each be wearing a necklace of gold.

And even though the Lady Bulldogs didn't win the Distriict Championship this year,

I'm anxiously awaiting something bigger as the season unfolds.

BLING BLING....BLING BLING.

The JV Girls will be wearing lots of medals too.

They are the Districts Champions and they did it with just a few.

Amber Ellis, Cordasha Gilbert, Ashyhti Carter, Jasmine Hayes, LaSaundra Grant,

Odeesia Alexander, Vanessa Johnson, Imari Kirk, and Derricka Weatherspoon,

will all be shining brightly and full of pride.

Maybe and hopefully, the noise from the medals, they will try to hide. (LOL)

The Lady Bulldogs participated in the Regional Qualifiers Meet at Killeen Harker Heights on Friday, May 23. Even though the ladies did not place as high as they wanted, they posted decent marks in their particular events. In the 4 X 100 Relay we placed 7th but improved our time to 50.2 . In the 100 Jasmine Armstead coasted to a second place time with a time of 12.4. In the 4 X 200, in spite of two bad hand offs, the Lady Bulldogs finished 3rd with a time of 144.4.

Jasmine also finished 2nd in the 200 meter dash with a time 25.8. In the shot put, TyNeisha placed sixth. The Lady Bulldogs used this meet to work the kinks out. Hopefully, will be straightened out and ready to go next at the Regional Meet in Whitehouse, Texas on May 3 and 4. I will keep you all posted on the results. Meanwhile, keep us in your prayers and thank you for you support of all Marlin ISD Athletics.
