2020-21 SCHOOL REENTRY PLAN

The 2020-2021 School Year begins August 17th

The safety of our teachers, staff, parents, and students are our top priority during this uncertain time.  In order to support a smooth transition back into the learning environment, Marlin ISD will stagger the back to campus date for our students.  The first three weeks of school will go as follows:

  • Weeks 1-2 (August 17-August 28): All students will remain home for orientation week by working remotely to connect with Google classroom, curriculum programs, teachers, and social emotional learning.
  • Week 3 (August 31 - September 3): All students will report to campus for on campus instruction.

Marlin ISD will continue to offer virtual learning only to those families and students opt-in by the deadline date. This is done by completing the 2020-2021 school year commitment form.

2020-2021 School Year Commitment Form

After the second week of school Marlin ISD will continue to offer virtual instruction, called Marlin Virtual Academy (MVA), during the 2020-21 school year for parents that feel this option is in the best interest of their child.  Parents must opt-in by completing a commitment form for the 2020-2021 school year.

A commitment form will be available to the primary parent or guardian contact for each registered Marlin ISD student on July 31. Parents should use the form to communicate plans for each student by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 11. If the District does not receive a commitment form for a student by August 11, it will be automatically assumed that the student will attend on-campus classes.

This timely feedback is critical to Marlin ISD in preparing for the first day of school on August 17, 2020. The District must have data to work with when planning for master schedules, classroom space, the new Marlin Virtual Academy and how we can best meet the social-emotional needs of students when they return.

Marlin ISD understands that family sentiments may change as COVID-19 conditions evolve or if the District has to adjust its plans based on new insight or clarity from the state. As a result, Marlin ISD will allow parents to change their students' learning model after the school year begins, however a student must remain in the designated plan for a complete grading cycle (six weeks).  The District will communicate the specific process to make changes at a later time.
