MISD does not tolerate bullying. Students or parents may report an alleged incident, orally or in writing, to the campus administration.

MISD encourages parents and staff to be fully proactive and to educate students regarding safe Internet practices. Parents that limit or monitor texting activity will decrease the likelihood that a child will send, save, or distribute sexually explicit images. Before You Text is a very helpful online tool.
 
Click here to ANONYMOUSLY report an incident that you believe may be bullying. Your response will only be seen by the administrators responsible for investigating the report.

 

It is the Child Protective Services' (CPS) position that school personnel should NOT investigate allegations or suspicions of abuse or neglect.  This is a Department of Family and Protective Services's responsibility.  As soon as the school employee has pertinent information concerning the alleged or suspected abuse or neglect, a report must be made.

All cases of alleged Child Abuse and Neglect must be reported immediately to  CPS and/or Law Enforcement.

Follow these steps to ensure Marlin ISD  reporting procedures are followed.

Make a Report

If the child is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1 first then call the Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400

If the child is NOT in immediate danger, make a report to CPS using the hotline or the abuse website http://www.txabusehotline.org and / or call Local Law Enforcement.

Emergency Situations

Emergency Situations are those where a child, adult with disabilities, or person who is elderly faces an immediate risk of abuse or neglect that could result in death or serious harm.  The internet reporting system http://www.txabusehotline.org should NOT be used in urgent or emergency situations, including but not limited to the following:

• Serious Injuries
• Injuries to a child 5 years or younger
• Immediate need for medical care (including a suicidal child)
• Sexual abuse where the perpetrator has access, or will have access, to the child within the next 24 hours
• Chidren age five and under are alone or are likely to be left alone within the next 24 hours
• Any other situation which requires a response in less than 24 hours.

Reports to the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services (CPS) can be made 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  All reports are kept confidential and may be anonymous.

Supporting the personal and social needs of students to enable all to become successful, productive citizens and lifelong learners in a diverse and changing world. The MISD school counselors accomplish this mission by implementing the following school counseling components: guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services and systems support.

Texas First Early High School Completion Program

The Texas First Early High School Completion Program provides eligible public high school students with the opportunity to graduate early by demonstrating college readiness. In partnership with the Texas First Scholarship Program, this initiative aims to improve efficiency within the state’s public education system and encourage high-performing students to enroll in participating colleges and universities across Texas. Students who complete the program earn a high school diploma with a Distinguished Level of Achievement, a designation that must be formally noted on their diploma and reflects their preparedness for postsecondary success.

To qualify, students must demonstrate college readiness in five core subject areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and a Language Other Than English. Parents and students can consult the Subject Area Assessments and Benchmarks to determine if these requirements have been met. For a personalized review of eligibility, students, families, and counselors are encouraged to use the Texas First Eligibility Tool, which helps identify readiness and outlines next steps for program participation.

The Student Health Services Department supports the mission of the District to graduate all students by implementing programs and providing services designed to reduce health-related barriers to learning, promote each student’s optimal level of wellness and empower students and their families with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve lifelong health and wellness. Our programs focus on prevention, early identification, referral, and case management of health issues having the potential to negatively impact school attendance and academic success.

Student Information Services (PEIMS) encompasses all data for the entire school district required by TEA (Texas Educational Agency). 
This includes:

• student demographic data,
• staff members demographic data,
• district finances, and
• general organizational information.

More specifically, school registrars and attendance personnel update and track student demographic information and daily attendance. In conjunction with individual teachers, campus counselors are responsible for tracking individual student academic performance, determining student needs and tracking student performance on state standards (STAAR and EOC).

The PEIMS Coordinator serves as a direct contact for parents regarding student registration, transfers, records/transcripts, and Ascender Parent Portal access.
