1:1 Take-Home Chromebook Program Details

Dear Marlin Parents:

Your child (grades 3-12) has been issued a Chromebook device by MISD to take part in an exciting program dedicated to making the learning experience a modern, exciting, collaborative, and engaging digital classroom environment. It is critical to the success of the program that you participate in your student's interaction with the device they were issued, and that you understand the responsibilities and rights your student accepts when participating in the program.

To connect to Wi-Fi:

Please follow this link for instructions on how to connect your school-issued Chromebook to the Internet with a compatible Wi-Fi network.

Sign in with a school-issued Google Account:

To do school work, your child should be signed in to a school-issued Google Account.

To get your child’s school account info, you can ask your child’s school or teacher. The general format for student accounts is:
s-[first name initial][middle name initial][last name]

Example: a student named John C. Smith would have the username
[email protected] 

When your child is on a school account, the school is able to monitor all of your student's activity.



  • Your student will use their issued device to accept and complete lessons, communicate with their teachers, research and prepare projects and assignments for sharing with teachers and students, and for completing assigned work at school and at home.
  • Your student should transport their device in their assigned laptop carrying bag/case at all times that it is not being used for school work.
  • Your student should arrive at school with the device fully-charged and ready for use in class.
  • Excepting situations where the student's device is the only device available for remote-learning, your student should not share the device or their account information with others.
  • You and your student are responsible for ensuring the device remains in good working order, and will report to your campus administration if the device is not in good working order. It may be the responsibility of parents or students to cover some or all of the costs of repairing or replacing devices that are lost, destroyed, or stolen. 
  • You and your student are expected to return the device to school when the school-year is over, or whenever the device is requested to be returned to the school.
  • Your device is equipped with a website filter, any interaction that your student has with the internet, which is a global network of millions of sites, is monitored, and any inappropriate use of the device, per our acceptable use guidelines, may result in the loss of access to the device or related accounts.
