Marlin ISD Announces Weather Makeup Schedule and Staff Following January Closures

MARLIN, TX — Following the inclement weather events at the end of January 2026, which resulted in a four-day district closure, Marlin Independent School District is releasing its official plan to fulfill instructional requirements and resolve contractual obligations for staff.

Student Instructional Makeup Plan

To ensure all students meet the necessary state instructional hour requirements, the District has officially designated the following dates as makeup days.

Classes will be in session on:

  • Friday, March 27, 2026 and
  • Friday, April 10, 2026

Parents and guardians are encouraged to update their calendars to ensure full student attendance on these dates, as they are vital to the academic calendar and student success.

 

Marlin ISD and Baylor University to Unveil New Cyber Security Grant and Student Pathway

MARLIN, TX – Marlin ISD is proud to announce its selection as one of only eight school districts in Texas to participate in the inaugural cohort of the K-12 Cyber Security Pathways Program (K12 CSPP). This groundbreaking initiative, led by Baylor University’s Central Texas Cyber Hub, will be officially launched during a special Media Day event on Thursday, February 5th, at 11:00 a.m.

The program will provide Marlin students with a direct path to high-demand careers through a no-cost, five-course sequence culminating in industry-recognized CompTIA certifications (Tech+, Security+, and Network+).

"Marlin ISD will prepare students with the academic and life skills necessary to ensure that their potential turns into performance," said Alphonso Bates, Superintendent. "This partnership with Baylor University embodies our commitment to providing our students with elite, future-ready opportunities at no cost to our local taxpayers."

Members of the media are invited to attend for interviews with district leadership, Baylor representatives, and participating students.
