Mr. Alphonso Antonio Bates is an experienced educational leader with over 26 years in public education. His career includes eight years in central administration, twelve years as a campus-level administrator, and six years during which he simultaneously served as a classroom teacher, GED instructor, and high school athletic coach.

Most recently, Mr. Bates served as Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources at Lamar Consolidated ISD, and prior to that as Chief Student Services Officer, providing leadership for district leaders, campus administration, and student programs, as well as guiding district-wide initiatives to enhance student success. Before his tenure at Lamar Consolidated ISD, he served as Chief of Organizational Management at Community Independent School District, overseeing Human Resources, Student Services, Campus Principals, the Athletics Department, and the district’s Aspiring Leadership Academy for emerging administrators, while assisting in leading the district to an “A” rating.

He has presented at multiple state conferences and was appointed by the former Deputy Commissioner to serve on the Teacher Certification Revision Committee for the State of Texas, contributing his expertise to statewide educational policy and certification standards. Mr. Bates earned his Superintendent Certification, Master of Education in Educational Administration, and Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a minor in Health Promotion, all from the University of North Texas.

Mr. Bates and his wife of 26 years, Mrs. Jenia Bates, are the proud parents of four children: Alphonso Jr., a graduate of Prairie View A&M University; Amyaia, a student at the University of North Texas; Ashton, a student at the University of Texas at Tyler; and Aidan, a student at Houston Christian University.
